The election procedure to renew the EC-board of the European Chapter
IFCN is (at least) finished. The results of the election are the following:
Number of National Societies having sent their vote : 15/24 with known / available Delegates: 62.5%
The Quorum of 50% responses is reached

Please note that a further member-at-large (Pr Jonathan Cole ) had been
elected in 2008. Thus, the new Executove Committee of the European
Chapter, from August 1st, 2010, will be as follows:

One of the first tasks of the new EC will be the preparation of the
General Assembly of the Chapter in Kobe, during the next IFCN Congress,
and all the Delegates will be duly informed of the agenda.

IFCN FELLOWSHIPS FOR KOBE

To Presidents and Delegates of Member Societies,
As you will remember the IFCN offers fellowships to support participation of young investigators (below age 40 years) in the ICCN2010 taking place at Kobe in October 2010. We are now writing to you because the deadline of the IFCN Fellowship applications is May 31, 2010. We kindly ask you to choose the most appropriate candi dates among the applicants from your society and to propose their names to the IFCN Secretariat, Mrs. Stephanie Hudson (shudson@venuewest.com).
If your society wishes to put forward more than one candidate, you are requested to provide a priority number to their names as not all candidates may be granted the fellowship. For further information please visit the IFCN webpage: (http://www.ifcn.info/).

IFCN - Results of the First Round of elections for Members-at-Large
Dear Delegate,
I have the pleasure to communicate to you the final results of the first round of election to the positions of IFCN Members-at-Large for the 2010-2014 fiscal period.
34 of the 46 IFCN Member Societies eligible to vote (74 %) have participated in this election. The quorum of 50% of societies having voted being achieved this election is declared valid.
The total number of votes allotted for was 127; the numbers of votes obtained by each of the two candidates were as follows:
Dr. Lawrence H. Phillips (Geographical area 1): 83 votes/127 65,4 %
Dr. Mamede de Carvalho (Geographical area 2): 77 votes/ 127 60,6 %
Both candidates have obtained the absolute majority of votes and are thus declared elected.
The election process of IFCN ExCo Officers for the 2010-2014 fiscal period is now over. On the behalf of the Nomination and Rules Committees I deeply thank you for having contributed to this very successful election.
NEW STATUTES

This short note to inform you about the voting results of the modified statutes of the European Chapter, IFCN.
Number of Socieites contacted : 31
YES to proposed modifications : 24
NO to proposed modifications: 0
Abstention : 7
The new Statutes are therefore accepted, with 77% favourable votes, and no negative votes.
You will be contacted again in short, in relation with the upcoming elections of the new EC-IFCN Executive Borad, for which the nomination and voting procedures will be launched by the end of this month according with the rules established in the Statutes, section 5.2. (enclosed). Warm up your engines !

Caros amigos, membros da Associação
Venho por este meio convidar a todos a estarem presentes na nossa próxima reunião que decorrerá no Algarve, sob a organização do nosso colega Fernando Pacheco, e que terá como tema principal Estatística. No entanto o programa é variado e contará com curtas comunicações livres, o programa segue em anexo.
Para além da participação pede-se aos colegas que enviem resumos de comunicações, o que poderáo fazer para o meu mail pessoal ( mamedemg@netcabo.pt). O deadline é 15 de Maio de 2010.
Na mesma altura decorrerá a nossa habitual Assembleia Geral.
Em complemento planeiam-se algumas actividades sociais de interesse para um convivío entre os neurofisiologistas portugueses.
